Gang Violence Escalates in Thrissur: Two Brutally Killed in Unsettling Attacks

Two people were killed in a gang attack in Thrissur city within two hours. Gangster leader Karunamayan and Akhil were killed in Murkanikara in the murder that took place in Kanimangalam. The first murder was at Kanimangalam in Thrissur. Karunamayan, a native of Poothol, was found stabbed near the railway track in Kanimangalam. Karunamayan was brought to the hospital by three people namely Amal, Vishnu and Binoy. He came saying that he was injured in an accident. Nedupuzha police have taken these three people into custody and are interrogating them. The motive for the murder is unclear. Karunamayan, who was killed, is accused in many cases. He is also a Kappa-charged accused. He was known as Vishnu and Porinju.

The second murder was at half past six. The youth was stabbed to death by a group of gangsters during the Kummatti ulsava of Moorkanikara reading room. 28-year-old Akhil, a native of Mulayam, was killed. The police received information that Brahmajit and Vishwajit, natives of Murka Nikara, were behind the murder. The police are looking for these twin brothers. Akhil’s friend Jit was injured in the violence. A dispute over dancing during the Kummatti festival resulted in the murder. Akhil came to the accused’s land and played dance behind the provocation. After the murder, the Kummati festival was put on hold.

Mannuthi Police is investigating the case. The killings, which took place within hours, are a sign that gangs are becoming active in the district.
