Volkswagen’s Electrify France: Fast-Charging Network for VW and Group Brand Dealerships

150 fast-charging stations will be in place in the car parks of Volkswagen group brand dealerships by summer 2024.

More and more manufacturers want to develop their charging network in their own name. Volkswagen is doing it, with the creation of the “Electrify France” brand. As a reminder, Volkswagen is already offering to support local authorities and retail players in partnership with Allego. The manufacturer is also a founding member of the Ionity network, which covers the major axes.

The idea with Electrify France is to offer a fast charging network far from the main roads, “especially in regions with few motorways and in peri-urban areas”. Volkswagen recalls that the possibility of recharging 150 to 200 km of autonomy in 15/20 min “is a real need, even in urban areas”. Adding that “50% of French people do not have a dedicated parking space allowing them to charge at home”.

The Electrify France network will be developed in the group’s dealership network, whether with the Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda or Cupra brands. 150 stations will be deployed by summer 2024, with 300 high-power terminals. There will indeed be at least one ultra-fast 150 kW charging station per station. Some will have up to 12. The stations will be accessible to all drivers, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Some are already operational.

VW indicates that Electrify France will subsequently be able to develop in the networks of the group’s brands, which represents 700 sites in France.
