In a press release issued by Billboard, Spotify announced that Tonight Show, Late Show hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers and John Oliver would host a new podcast covering the ongoing Writers Guild of America and SAG strikes. -AFTRA.
The limited-series podcast, titled Strike Force Five, will air weekly for twelve episodes, starting August 30 (23). Spotify has been chosen as the series’ host and exclusive retail partner.
Any profits the hosts would earn from Strike Force Five will be allocated to unemployed staff at their shows, including The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Late Night With Seth Meyers, and La last week tonight with John Oliver.
Screenwriters are on strike to defend their rights and their incomes in the face of an offensive by production companies “to cut wages”, as the Writers Guild of America explained in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
