Volkswagen of America today announces the 2024 Golf GTI 380, standard special equipment on all 2024 GTIs with a manual transmission. Available exclusively in the North American market, this special-edition combination celebrates the heritage of the manual transmission in VW’s hot hatches during the last year of three-pedal production for the Golf GTI and Golf R.
“The 380 GTI conveys our appreciation for the enthusiasts who have continually demonstrated their love for the manually equipped GTI for more than four decades,” said Petar Danilovic, Volkswagen of America senior vice president of marketing and product strategy.
The name “380” comes from the internal model code of the Mk8. It’s a nod to the fourth-generation GTI 337 special edition, sold in 2002, which borrowed the in-house model code from the Mk1 GTI.
In the same spirit, the 380 GTI incorporates design and performance-enhancing elements valued by VW enthusiasts and combines them with exclusive color to bring a truly special outfit to each manual transmission version for 2024: S, SE and Autobahn.
Enthusiasts will appreciate the Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition’s standard DCC® adaptive damping system and 19-inch gloss black multi-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels shod with high-performance summer tires.
A gloss black-painted roof is matched by gloss black mirror caps and stands out once morest the GTI’s classic red exterior accents. Colors for the 2024 Golf GTI include Deep Black Pearl, Atlantic Blue Metallic, Kings Red Metallic, Reflex Silver Metallic, Moonstone Gray and Opal White Pearl, along with Graphite Gray Metallic, which is exclusive to the 380 GTI.
Inside, the GTI 380 pays homage to GTI history with a golf ball-inspired manual shift knob (found on all GTI generations) and honeycomb accents. S and SE trims feature classic Scalepaper Plaid cloth seats; Vienna leather seating surfaces are standard on Autobahn trim and optional on SE trim. He
As with the rest of the 2024 Golf GTI lineup, the GTI 380 versions are powered by a turbocharged EA888 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.
This model is the last Golf GTI to be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the 7-speed DSG® dual-clutch transmission will be implemented in future GTI models and the Golf R.
The 2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI 380 will go on sale in early fall 2023, with a starting price of $32,485 for the GTI 380 S, $37,285 for the GTI 380 SE and $40,625 for the GTI 380 Autobahn.
