The president of the party of the Union of democrats for the rebirth of Guinea (UDRG), Bah Oury, disapproves of the demonstration of the Living forces of Guinea (FVG) planned for September 5, 2023 in Grand-Conakry.

Bah Oury judges the appeal of the Forces vives de Guinea “inappropriate”, and denounces above all the “violent” nature of the previous demonstrations that the country has known. “The demonstration planned by the Forces vives de Guinée seems to me inappropriate in the current circumstances. For more than a decade, Guinea has been punctuated by untimely demonstrations which, in the end, have contributed much more to weakening the fundamentals of the rule of law and democracy”, believes Bah Oury.

For this pro Cnrd political actor, street demonstrations have often led to the emergence of a certain confiscation of political space by “individual and selfish” interests. “We brought everything back to stories of personal interests and that made people turn away from this kind of demonstrations because seeing only violence, killings, robbery and perpetual repetitions”, underlines the former minister of the national reconciliation.

This demonstration of the living forces of Guinea planned for Tuesday, September 5, aims to denounce the lack of visibility in the conduct of the transition, according to the organizers. Several other celebrations are planned in the country as part of the celebration of year 2 of the CNRD’s accession to power.
