Stephen Rodriguez He is an engineer and for just two years he has been involved in politics in the town of Humberto Primo, an agro-industrial commune in the central west of the province of Santa Fe. candidate for municipal president by the Juntos Avancemos party, which responds to Justicialista governor Omar Perotti. Among his proposals, Rodríguez launched an unusual raffle: a house and a million pesos for a neighbor, in case of being elected.
“People are tired of always the same thing. Proposals for housing and rural roads we have made, precisely facing the housing deficit of the town. They have had no impact. Obviously, the most populist proposal is the one that reaches the people the most. I want to show what position the electorate is in”, declared the candidate, who referred to the draw for national deputy Javier Milei.
Rodríguez explained that the total prize would mean a donation of six million pesos, carried out by the communal chief and his vice. “The salary of both is, without additions, at approximately 750,000. It’s two years, 24 salaries, there’s plenty of money, “he said and clarified:” It would be the 100% of the income, for a house built with precast techniques, doing one’s labor, as soon as possible. If you stretch it, there will be no money to reach due to inflation in the country.
When asked, in an interview with Chain 3 Rosary, if the measure would be fulfilled only if he was elected community president this September, the candidate replied: “Obviously, because otherwise, where would we get the funds?” “It is a personal matter. We cannot govern wanting to give away houses every day. It is for people who live in the town and vote there,” she added.
Rodríguez recounted how the process of making the decision of the draw was, driven mainly by the results obtained in the 2021 elections and the PASO, where they were second, following the current communal chief, Mauro Gilbertfrom Together for Change, who added 1019 more votes than Rodríguez.
“In the past elections we had proposals always focused on the humbertinos, we have obtained subsidies and contributions of money to different entities in the town. But well, obviously they have never had their effect in the commune and this year we were going for the same type of proposals, considering housing plans, sources of work”, he began to explain.
“In the PASO we have not had the chance to win either and we set out to do something different, people are tired of always hearing the same thing. It is also seen nationally. At one point we raised what a national deputy said two years ago, which was to raffle the salary for X number of months. But since people don’t know how much the salary is, we wanted to do something more interesting, ”he continued.
“There we thought to give the money to the entities and it did not have an effect either, so we proposed that it go to the people,” said Rodríguez, who, when speaking of the measure that the candidate for president for La Libertad Avanza still maintains, assured: “I don’t know if he succeeded for that, but That measure did capture the attention of many. What’s more, when she proposed it, his pages instantly collapsed.
On his website, the candidate presented his main government proposals, the first being a housing plan. There is also the creation of an industrial park, buying road machinery, building an entrance to the town for heavy traffic, inaugurating a new recreational center, hiring more specialists for the public hospital and eliminating the tax on the cemetery.
The policy of control between the participants
Regarding the transparency of the draw, the candidate from Santa Fe assured: “We are not going to continue strictly behind each one seeing if someone voted or did not vote” and then added that “we have to go to the morale of each one, I can’t go and harass anyone to vote for us”.
“What’s more, in the PASO we we do not place tax our own at the tables, because we are not interested in taking attendance of who is going to vote and who is not. We are in a democratic country where we have to let people go to vote freely. Yes I hope someone who needs it wins it”, acknowledged the mechanical engineer.
Finally, Rodríguez said that he returned “to the town with the intention of making it a better place to live” and expressed that he agreed to be a candidate for the local opposition “in order to build the building for the technical school that Humberto has and I got it. I also got an ambulance, we are one of the few oppositions that have made proposals for actions, ”he said.
