On Sunday, through social networks, the Minister of Economy and candidate for president Sergio Massa announced the reinforcement of 60 thousand pesos for private and public employees, among other post-devaluation measures. But, at least half of the country’s provinces have already warned that they will not apply this payment because they are discussing their own parities.

Córdoba is one of the districts that will not pay the bond. This was confirmed by the Secretary General of the Government of Córdoba, Julio César Comello. According to the official, the provincial Executive has already been carrying out negotiations with the state ones.

Córdoba will not pay the $60,000 bonus to provincial employees

“With the increase that we have granted to the entire public sector, no worker will have an increase of less than 33,000 pesos. With which, what was announced by the national government as an exceptional, transitory, non-remunerative measure and on account of future increases, in Córdoba it is already consolidated with the percentage that the ranks have”, indicated Julio César Comello, general secretary of the Government of Córdoba, on Radio Pulxo.

The other 11 districts that will not follow the measures of the national official and candidate are: the City of Buenos Aires and the provinces of Santa Fe, Misiones, Jujuy, Entre Ríos, Neuquén, Catamarca, Tucumán, Santa Cruz, Salta and La Pampa.

Until now, only Mendoza, La Rioja and Santiago del Estero confirmed this payment. Meanwhile, the rest of the provinces at this time were defining what to do, that is, whether they would accept the bonus or favor their local negotiations.

Together with the Executive of Córdoba, the governor of Santa Fe was another of those who turned away from the possibility of granting an improvement. Peronist Omar Perotti explained that he will not pay his employees the $60,000 bonus in two installments of 30,000 announced by the Nation because the province had already agreed with the unions to apply a trigger clause only ten days ago.

Private employees who receive bonuses will not be able to buy dollars, confirmed the Minister of Labor

“What is being resorted to in some places is because there were salary discussions that did not contemplate in any way the imbalance that was generated with inflation and devaluation. Here the province has protected these instances,” Perotti clarified in statements to local radio.

The parity account bonus is part of the measures that the minister and candidate announced last Sundayand that includes credits and increases in social plans, in order to contain the inflationary effects that the devaluation of the day following the PASO of the 13th of this month brought regarding.

Another of the leaders who is also opposed to granting the extra to their employees is the missionary governor Oscar Herrera Aguad, which supports Massa’s presidential candidacy. It has arguments similar to Santa Fe, since they are also in the middle of their own parity.

The Minister of Finance of Misiones, Adolfo Safrán, justified the decision not to pay the bonus by explaining that they gave “increases in July and August and there are other sectors such as teaching and the security forces that will receive increases in September”.

The City of Buenos Aires, along the same lines, also slipped that it has already given increases to municipal employees who closely follow this year’s inflation, “with monthly parities and in some cases even fortnightly”.

In Jujuy, the provincial finance minister, Carlos Sadir, was tougher since he also argued that the local administration is in line with inflation within the framework of its own parity, but he also used another argument not to join the measure. In this regard, he assured that Jujuy also does not have the resources to pay the fixed sum of 60 thousand pesos that the national government announced.

The governor of La Pampa, Sergio Ziliotto, said that the province will not adhere to the payment the fixed sum because the national government “removed this measure for national employees.” “We in La Pampa have guaranteed a trigger clause above the inflation level for four years and today there is a greater effort for workers who have family responsibilities,” said the provincial president.

The governor of Entre Ríos, Gustavo Bordet, clarified that provincial public employees will not receive the fixed amount suggested because it has its own negotiations. “Today we have a 76% accumulated increase, with the 5% that we agreed to this month, and we are 15 or 16 points above inflation. Likewise, we continue with open parities and working,” he said.

The others that already granted a bonus

Río Negro offered the fixed sum of $60,000 to the state unions. The sum will be divided into two installments during September and October. It was clarified that it is non-remunerative and is aimed at state employees who earn a net salary of less than 400,000 pesos.

Salta and Corrientes already paid bonds in July and even this month. San Luis, Chubut and Tierra del Fuego closed parities a few days ago for this stretch of the year.
