As of September 1, nearly fifty phones will no longer be compatible with the Whatsapp application due to updates that will make some phones obsolete.
An upgrade required. The developers of the Whatsapp instant messaging app have announced that many phones running Android 4.0.1 or iOS 12 or earlier will no longer be compatible with the app starting September 1.
Among the list of main smartphones targeted by Whatsapp, we find in particular the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, the iPhone SE (2016 version), 6S and 6S Plus, or the Huawei Ascend G74, Mate or Dz. The full list can be viewed on the Whatsapp website.
Over time, smartphones become obsolete due to insufficient storage capacity or electronic hardware that is outdated and unable to support application updates.
