The household morale in France remained stable in August, indicates the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee) on Tuesday.
The indicator that reflects household confidence stood at 85, as in July and June, a level that remains “well below” of his average of long period (100), specifies the organization.
Financial situation
The outlook for their financial situation is judged more negatively (-4 points) by the approximately 2,000 households questioned by telephone, unlike the past financial situation (+2 points).
In this context, the share of households considering convenient to save gained one point, above its long-term average, and that relating to the opportunity to make major purchases remained stable.
While households are more confident in their current savings capacity (+4 points), they are slightly less confident (-1 point) regarding their future savings capacity.
Economic pessimism
With regard to the economic context in France, households are less likely to think that the situation will improve over the next twelve months (-5 points).
The fears regarding the evolution of unemployment are strengthening (+2 points), but they remain below their long-term average. On the other hand, the past situation of the last twelve months is judged more positively, with a rebound of 3 points.
