ALGIERS – The public start-up accelerator “Algeria Venture” and the South African start-up incubator “Sloane 22” signed a partnership agreement in Johannesburg (South Africa) aimed at strengthening the links between the start-up ecosystems of the two country, the public accelerator said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The support organization for startups in Algeria under the supervision of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-enterprises, and Sloane 22, a major player in innovation in South Africa, have formalized their partnership at a signing ceremony on the sidelines of the BRICS Business Forum in Johannesburg,” the same source said.

This agreement, signed in the presence of the Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid, and the Ambassador of Algeria in Pretoria, Mr. Saad Maandi, aims to “strengthen the links between the ecosystems of Algerian and South African startups, while promoting exchanges, best practices and joint growth opportunities,” the statement said.

According to the managing director of Algeria Venture, Sidali Zerrouki, quoted in the press release, “this agreement revolves around several key axes, demonstrating the commitment of both parties to fruitful cooperation”.

It includes encouraging dialogue between Sloane 22 teams and experts and Algerian startups with the aim of exchanging best practices and ecosystem knowledge, but also supporting interaction between young entrepreneurs and startup founders from both countries, potentially including exchange programs and other initiatives, the statement said.

This agreement also includes the development of a “Soft Landing” program, allowing Algerian and South African startups to work closely together, sharing their concepts and exploring new markets.

It also aims to ensure collaboration and participation in various networks and platforms for access to markets and capital, such as the African Startup Conference in Algiers, the Global Entrepreneurship Congress Africa (GEC+Africa) and several other platforms. similar.

The partnership agreement should also make it possible to “capture investors on both sides as well as expose high-growth startups to deploy more easily”, according to Algeria Venture.
