– A guardian of US values fears for power

These days Joe Biden was photographed with a thick book in his hands, the title clearly recognizable. “And There Was Light: Abraham Lincoln and the American Struggle” is the name of the new work by a historian that the President is apparently reading right now. “And there was light: Abraham Lincoln and the American struggle”. Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, he led the country through the Civil War and was assassinated at age 56. Biden is number 46, soon to be 80, and is deep into a contemporary American struggle, the struggle for democracy and what he calls the soul of the nation.
