The Closing of Waterloo’s Iconic Nightclub, Knokke Out: A Last Farewell

2023-08-28 19:15:00

After the Stamp in 2022, the world of nightlife in Waterloo is losing a second emblematic establishment. After 13 years of buffets and dancing, the mythical “Knokke Out” is closing its doors. Located at the exit of the Ring, at the limit of the linguistic border, the place was a must for the Brabants, but also the inhabitants of Brussels who wanted to leave the capital.

As a consolation, a last evening is planned: “la der des der”, this Friday, September 1, from 9 p.m. On this occasion, the Knokke Out will be in nightclub mode, with two DJ stages: an indoor stage managed by the Knokke team, and the outdoor one by Back To Basics, well known to regulars. On the practical side, the event is free from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., paying at the price of €10 until 1 a.m., and €12 therefollowing. Burgers and fries will be on the menu.

Tero, three worlds in one

Behind the Knokke Out is “Tero”, the event company of the two brothers Arthur and Nicolas Lhoist, which brings together different activities (several bistronomic restaurants, the People First lodgings and the Knokke Out).

Over the years, the company has emphasized the aspects of sustainability, with in particular a growing interest in the short circuit and sustainable projects (beach cleaning operations, natural washing products, acquisition of beach chairs for people with reduced mobility, etc.).

What regarding the future of the places and the concept? The organizers will take advantage of the “last of the last” to announce the future of this emblematic establishment: “because every end is also a beginning…”, they say on social networks.

For the moment, no official announcement suggests the future of Knokke Out. The surprise will therefore hold until Friday.
