14th gen Intel Core: CPUs will see few improvements and will be more expensive than 13th gen, says rumor

It shouldn’t be long before Intel finally announces the 14th generation Core processors. Lots of information regarding these products has been leaked over the past few months, and now, courtesy of the leaker @momomo_us of X (formerly Twitter), we discovered the supposed prices of the line of chips for desktops known by the code name “Raptor Lake Refresh-S”.

While rumors indicate that the next generation will have a minuscule leap in performance over the 13th generation Core, the leaker has revealed that the new 14th generation processors will have significantly higher prices. The Core i9-14900K, for example, might be almost a hundred dollars more expensive than the Core i9-13900K.

It is speculated that the processors of the 14th generation Core line for desktops have the same lithography and architecture as the 13th generation Core. Still, all models will remain with the same core count — except for the Core i7-14700K — as their predecessors, but will have a small increase in clock frequency.

Parallel to this, a listing in a Ukrainian hardware store reinforced the expected specifications for the Core i9-14900K, Core i7-14700K and Core i5-14600K. You can see in the screenshot below that the more advanced model will clock at up to 6.0 GHz and 36 MB cache. With that, we will have:

Core i9-14900K: 24 cores, 32 threads, 6.0 GHz clock and 36 MB cache
Core i7-14700K: 20 cores, 28 threads, 5.6 GHz clock and 33 MB cache
Core i5-14600K: 14 cores, 20 threads, 5.3 GHz clock and 24 MB cache

The expectation is that Intel will announce the 14th generation Core family during the InnovatiON 2023 event, which will take place from September 19, with a launch forecast for the month of October. In addition to the “Raptor Lake Refresh-S”, the company should also reveal the specifications of the “Meteor Lake” line aimed at notebooks.
