In this sense, the internist and infectologist, Santiago Bacci, stressed that these new variants such as “Eris” and “Pirola” do not currently constitute “a health problem” in the countries where these cases have been detected.
Bacci clarified that both the US and Europe are monitoring their evolution due to the increase in hospitalizations, but it is not something that entails a new global alert.
“Eris is the one that predominates in the United States”, while “the new one (Pirola)” is the one that has the record of mutations of spikes. “This is not currently a public health problem. The forecasts don’t look like previous years in hospitalizations and deaths.”
