Eli10: Diversifying in Energy Transition and Investing in Photovoltaics

2023-08-28 14:39:00

Eli10 is ten years old. The opportunity to take stock of the progress made and to plan investments. At the time, the company had been created by eight municipalities of the Neuchâtel coast in order to prepare for the gradual opening of the electricity market. Over time, it had to diversify. “During the first years, we concentrated on our core businesses, in particular network management and electricity supply. In 2020, we made the choice to move towards diversification in the field of energy transition,” explains Managing Director Christian Messerli. In 2022, Eli10 created the energy transition company Eligreen and acquired the electrical installation and control companies Pierre Walter electricity and Bugest. Today, the group is in the hands of seven municipalities on the Littoral and employs around a hundred people.

Investments in photovoltaics

Eli10 recently decided to invest 20 million francs in photovoltaics over the next four years. The company analyzes public, industrial or private buildings that might accommodate production facilities in its service area. On the other hand, the partnership concluded in 2020 with Viteos will not be renewed as it stands. The collaboration focused in particular on the supply of electricity and on smart meters installed at customers’ premises. “New objectives will have to be redefined,” explains Christian Messerli.

But before that, Eli10 offers to visit its Essert hydroelectric power station in Boudry on the occasion of its tenth anniversary. The site produces the equivalent of the energy consumption of 400 households. It can be visited this Wednesday on registration. /brain
