Mr. A, who runs a gold and silver room in Buyeo-eup, coaxed close acquaintances from last year, saying, “If you invest in a gold bar, I will take care of the proceeds.” The victims were mostly residents of Buyeo in their 40s to 60s, and it was reported that they had known Mr. A for decades.
The victim, who revealed that he was a middle school classmate of Mr. A, said, “I got a call following 10 years of seeing his face, and he asked me to invest and borrowed 100 million won while feeling sorry for ‘my situation’ where I was not well-off.” I believed that he was also a member of the military,” he said.
According to the victims’ statements, until the beginning of this year, Mr. A kept a small amount of proceeds and cracked down on the victims, saying, “It’s a good opportunity, so only trustworthy people are invested.” Among them, there were relatives of Mr. A, but it is known that they did not know that each other invested.
As the ripples in the region grew due to the complaints of the victims, her husband, Congressman Park, submitted a letter of resignation to the Buyeo County Council on the 22nd and took his own life at home.
