A 53-year-old man from Dentergem (West Flanders) lost his life in a serious traffic accident on Saturday evening in Tielt, confirms the West Flanders prosecutor’s office, Bruges division. The victim’s car collided with a tree.
The accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on the Wakkensesteenweg in Tielt. The 50-year-old was driving towards Dentergem when he lost control of the steering wheel in a right-hand bend. The vehicle first swerved to the left before crashing into a tree on the right side of the road.
The emergency services intervened quickly on the spot, but it was already too late for the driver. The latter died instantly.
The Bruges division of the West Flanders public prosecutor’s office has decided not to send an expert to the scene. She believes that the circumstances of the crash are sufficiently clear. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
