Starfield is one of the most anticipated PC games of 2023, but it also raises many questions regarding its graphics performance and modding potential.

And FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) is a technologie d’upscaling developed by AMD which improves the image quality and refresh rate of games by reducing the native resolution. THE FSR is compatible with graphics cards AMD et NVIDIAas well as with the consoles Xbox Series X/S that use AMD chips. DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is a similar technology, but exclusive to the latest generation Nvidia graphics cards, which uses artificial intelligence to optimize the image.

Starfield will ship with AMD’s just-announced 7800 XT and 7700 XT graphics cards, suggesting that the game will support FSR, but not DLSS. However, Frank Azor, Chief Gaming Officer at AMD, said that was not the case. He asserted that nothing prevented Bethesda to add DLSS to the game, and that AMD would support that decision if made.

Azor explained that Bethesda’s choice of the FSR was motivated by the desire to offer a similar experience on PC and console, since Starfield is also an Xbox game. He also clarified that AMD had not imposed an exclusivity clause on Bethesda, and that the partnership between the two companies was limited to a bundled offer. “When we offer bundles, we ask them, ‘Are you ready to prioritize FSR? “But if they ask us to support DLSS, we always say yes,” he said.

Bethesda has not yet confirmed whether or not Starfield may integrate DLSS soon, or when it will be available. It is possible that the studio will wait to see player feedback on the FSR before deciding. We had also announced that the game might be the first to be accompanied by FSR 3.0, but it is ultimately the Forspoken and Immortals of Aveum games that will be entitled to it.

The Starfield Creation Kit: A Powerful Tool for Modders

The modding has always been one of the main attractions of PC games from Bethesda, and Starfield will be no exception, moreover the game might take advantage of it to integrate DLSS 2 and DLSS 3. The publisher has promised that modding will be encouraged in its next space RPG, and that a creation kit similar to those of Skyrim et Fallout 4 would be available to players.

The Starfield Creation Kit will allow ambitious modders to create entire planets or their own stories et quests with relative ease. Pete Hines, responsable marketing de Bethesda, gave some more details regarding this tool during a recent livestream on the Twitch platform. “If you have played Elder Scrolls or Fallout, it will work the same way. It’s scheduled for following the launch, we don’t have any other information, because we have a launch to do, it happens. “, did he declare.

Hines said he’s very excited regarding the potential of the Starfield Creation Kit, which will give players a lot of creative freedom. “When you think regarding the communities that surround Bethesda Game Studios games and put a tool like this in the hands of people so they can bring their own vision to the games, I myself want to create mods. “.

Hines hasn’t said exactly when the Starfield Creation Kit will be available, but it’s likely to arrive within a month of the game’s release in September, as has been the case with previous Bethesda RPGs.

Starfield will launch in early access on September 1 on PC and Xbox Series X/Sthen officially release a few days later for all players on September 6th.
