Max Verstappen Dominates Dutch GP Qualifying: Can He Claim Ninth Consecutive Victory?

Unsurprisingly, Max Verstappen (Red Bull-Honda) took pole position in the Dutch GP at Zandvoort. This is the 8th of his season and the 28th of his career.

The Dutch double world champion shot in 1’10”567 in his last test. He will aim for a ninth consecutive success on Sunday, which would equal a record held by Sebastian Vettel since 2013. He beat Englishman Lando Norris (McLaren-Mercedes) by 0”537. The 2nd starting line will be made up of Englishman George Russell (Mercedes) and the amazing Thai Alexander Albon (Williams-Mercedes).

Q3 was interrupted twice by a red flag. Logan Sargeant (Williams-Mercedes) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) came off the track and hit hard. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) remained stuck in Q2. The seven-time world champion will therefore have to start in 13th position only.

The two Alfa Romeo-Ferrari drivers did not shine under the Dutch drizzle, failing to extract themselves from Q1. Guanyu Zhou set the 16th fastest time and Valtteri Bottas the 19th and penultimate.
