The blocking of news by Meta will not have been right only of the traditional media, but also of a site of assistance to people at the end of life managed by Michelle Bourassa, daughter of the former Premier of Quebec Robert Bourassa, in preventing him from sharing important news regarding palliative care.

It was following the death of her mother Andrée Simard that the woman decided to create the Facebook group #MortEnSilence. Last November, the widow of Robert Bourassa experienced suffering and deep distress when she was at the end of her life.

According to Michelle Bourassa, St Mary’s Hospital, where her mother was hospitalized, had failed to properly relieve her pain. It would not be until the nursing staff learned of her connection to the former prime minister that Ms. Simard received adequate sedation.

Using her website and her Facebook page, Ms. Bourassa shares information on end-of-life care through articles. Thus, the blocking of news by Meta would destroy several months of work, explained the daughter of the former Prime Minister in an interview with The Globe and Mail.

“We have lost almost everything we have done,” said the one who shared links to news sites to help people who need palliative care.

People at the end of life and their loved ones can however find information on the #MortEnSilence website.
