TIROLER TAGESZEITUNG, comment: “Don’t muddle any further”, by Karin Leitner

Innsbruck (OTS) The federal election campaign is already underway. The fact that the bickering continues for more than a year is not reasonable for those in need.

The legislative period normally runs until the autumn of next year; In 2007 it was extended from four to five years. Towards the end of 2024, a new National Council will have to be elected. This is basically good, because by then a lot can be done in the interests of the citizens. Let’s say “might”. The election campaign has already started.
The ÖVP shoots verbally once morest FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl day in and day out – concerned that there might be a chancellor match between him and SPÖ leader Andreas Babler. Kickl and his team countered with the usual sharpness. Things are going badly in the turquoise-green coalition – demonstrated harmony personified by the club officials August Wöginger and Sigrid Maurer. In fact, content is only possible with oh and woe. Unofficially, complaints regarding the coalition counterpart are getting louder from both sides. Many people have worries, even existential problems, because of rising prices in all areas of life. They want political help, not party squabbling. But it will – normally – continue for more than a year and come to a head. This inglorious spectacle was soon to be ended.
An explanation for the premature end of the partnership will have to be found. There are diplomatic formulations for the “Enough!” of the former Vice Chancellor and ÖVP leader Wilhelm Molterer. If the ÖVP and the Greens continue to waffle, the Freedom Party under Kickl’s chairmanship is not at 30 percent as it is at the moment, they will increase in popularity.
