Charles Leclerc’s Crash and Ferrari’s Struggles: A Challenging Dutch Grand Prix Qualifying

Charles Leclerc crashed his car in Turn 9 of the Dutch Grand Prix qualifying final and placed ninth on the session sheet. His Ferrari team mate Carlos Sainz qualified sixth and admitted that five teams are ahead of the Scuderia in sheer speed this weekend.

Charles Leclerc (9th): “First of all, it must be said that throughout the weekend we have problems with balance – the car has a huge understeer, a huge oversteer, which makes it very difficult to predict how the SF-75 will behave yourself in a turn. Throughout the weekend, the front of the car behaves strangely.

In qualifying, I tried to attack a little harder than usual, but in the final my approach didn’t work. It’s a pity that it happened, but we have serious problems throughout the weekend, including due to the fact that it is not possible to achieve the necessary adhesion.

My job is to achieve results even in difficult conditions, and today was especially difficult. Either way, it’s a shame it ended like this.”

Carlos Sainz (6th): “From the very beginning of the weekend, we are in the role of lagging behind. I missed the first training session, the third was on a wet track, and in the final of the qualification it was once more dry. It’s definitely been a tough weekend for me, but I didn’t manage to get a good enough lap to finish in sixth.

Williams, McLaren, Red Bull, Mercedes and Aston Martin are faster than us this weekend. Today we made fewer mistakes, so we went to the final, but in terms of pure speed, they are faster than us. If nothing unusual happens in the race, we will try to do everything possible to keep the sixth place. Perhaps a good start will win back a few places, but we are having a difficult weekend.

The Oscar Piastri incident? They didn’t tell me on the radio that he was approaching from behind, and in the shroud of spray I simply didn’t see him myself. It’s a tough situation, but I hope the stewards sort things out and hopefully everything will be alright.”
