The Saints announced Tuesday that they have signed tight end Jimmy Graham to a one-year contract.
Graham, now 36, started his career with the New Orleans Saints as a third-round pick in 2010. Even as a rookie, he showed his potential, catching 31 passes for 356 yards and five touchdowns. But his big break came in 2011, when he caught an impressive 99 passes for 1,310 yards and 11 touchdowns. Over the next three seasons, Graham has been consistent in his performances, catching at least 85 passes per season. In 2013, he even led the league with 16 touchdown catches.
After five successful years in New Orleans, Graham was traded to Seattle in 2015, where he played through the 2017 season. He then spent 2018 and 2019 with the Green Bay Packers before playing for the Chicago Bears from 2020-2021.
Last year, Graham was without a team following catching 14 catches for 167 yards and three touchdowns for the Bears in the 2021 season.
The Saints also have other tight ends in their roster in Taysom Hill, Foster Moreau, Jesse James, Juwan Johnson, Miller Forristall and Lucas Krull. Graham’s signing not only brings his experience and game intelligence back to the team, but also the opportunity to once once more successfully work with the franchise where he once established his reputation as a tight end standout.
