Lost knowledge and tried and tested recipes – Walter Mooslechner has written a new book.

The former forester, local historian, musician and author does not need to be introduced to Pongauer Nachrichten readers. Mooslechner began writing his first book as curator of the Museumsverein Denkmalhof Kösslerhäusl, a mining house from the 16th century. In the meantime, the sprightly 79-year-old with many talents has already written a good dozen. Throughout his life, as a forester, he was closely connected to the mountains, forests and their treasures and secrets – and has familiarized himself with the abundance of edible, body and health beneficial things that the local nature has in store: from A for arnica to Z for stone pine .

In his new book “Healing Powers from Nature”, plants from our mountain world, which keep body and soul together in a pleasurable way, are the focus of this fundamentally revised and expanded classic Health and Health. The book contains precise explanations of the health significance of herbs and fruits with an excursus on the subject of schnapps. “I learned a lot from my mother and I’ve always been busy with it,” Mooslechner tells the PN, and that he also starts some of the fruit from the bushes himself in his garden. “I observed, collected, tried and tasted. The encounters and discussions with knowledgeable people were a great help. They enabled me to deepen and expand my knowledge and my understanding through practical application. This knowledge is still alive in the countryside “. Farmers and alpine people, woodcutters and other naturalists guard the wealth of experience of generations. I also owe valuable knowledge to my training forester.” These empirical values are clearly illustrated and clearly summarized in the new book – partly as recipes or applications. It will be published by Verlag Pustet on September 11th.
