The Egyptian artist, Sherif Mounir, defended his daughter, a beautician and media expert, who shaved her hair “on the zero”, and sparked great controversy on social media, stressing that her behavior “there is nothing wrong with it” and that he is “proud of her.”

The appearance of Asma Munir with a shaved head following attending the Cairo Drama Festival, which took place on Thursday in the new city of El Alamein, sparked mixed reactions on social media platforms in Egypt and the Arab world.

Mounir explained, in a video clip he posted on his account on the “Instagram” application, on Friday evening, defending his daughter: “What is this fuss that you are making, all this because my daughter cut her hair in front of the camera .. Where is the mistake in that?”

And he continued, “Her behavior is very normal and there is nothing in it.. Do not think that I will stand once morest my daughter until I gain your satisfaction.. She is my daughter who I have no one else and I love her.”

Mounir expressed his admiration for his daughter’s new “look”, adding: “By the way, I liked the look and I am happy with it.. As for the brothers, gentlemen, the righteous angels, who belittled their manners and insulted.. and said that I did not raise her well.. I say that my daughter had a very good upbringing.. and what is important is It doesn’t hurt anyone.”

Mounir added, “Before you talk regarding her.. Look at yourselves, your families, your sisters, and the people around you.. Before you criticize and make mistakes and say that she did not find education with 3 tariffs or a quarter of a pound of education. No, my daughter is very well-bred.”

He concluded by saying: “My daughter is 36 years old, and her mother has a daughter and she is responsible for herself..and I am a father responsible for her protection, and she is free in her actions. Asma, you are beautiful like the moon, and you look very sweet..and you got (the trend). Bravo to you, do not care regarding anyone’s words.” And don’t mind any criticism.”

And Asmaa had published a clip earlier on her Instagram page, while she was cutting her hair completely, saying: “A new comfort and page. Part of the subject is psychological and an attempt to overcome crises.”

She explained that the reason for cutting her hair completely is due to the fact that it is falling out, explaining: “My hair has been falling out for a long time, in addition to being burned because of its straightening tools, in addition to the gland injury and its effect.”

And she stressed that she had decided to shave her hair a long time ago, “to start over and free herself.”
