London ∙ Malayalee nurses celebrated Onam by singing Vanchipaat and Onampaat in the busy underground tube train in London city. Malayalee nurses and other Malayalee officials working at ‘Thomas and Guys’ hospital in central London organized Onam celebrations at the hospital yesterday. This is the first time that the hospital authorities have given permission for such a celebration in the hospital compound only for Malayalis.
After the celebration, they went to a Malayalee restaurant in Eastham, East London for a meal, and they added to the celebration by singing and dancing to the song on the train. A group of 43 people made a procession by train from London Bridge to West Ham on the Jubilee Line and then to East Ham on the District Line.
