Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced on the 26th that he will issue a series of commemorative coins in the summer of 2031, the first of which will be three national parks in Okinawa, in preparation for the 100th anniversary of the national park system in 2031. He answered questions from reporters in Naha, where he was visiting. Prior to this, he visited the restoration work of Shurijo Castle’s Seiden, which was destroyed in a fire in 2019. He also held a round-table dialogue with tourism business operators in Okinawa Prefecture and exchanged opinions on tourism promotion following the corona disaster.

In a round-table discussion, Abe emphasized that the tourism industry has overcome the coronavirus crisis and is returning to normal. On top of that, he said, “I can see problems such as ‘overtourism’ due to the concentration of tourists. I would like to hear regarding the outlook for a sustainable tourism industry and use it as a reference.”
