[인포스탁데일리=박정도 전문기자] The labor union of Hyundai Motors launched a strike vote this year when negotiations on wages and collective agreements were not feasible.
On the 25th, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the labor union of the Hyundai Motors branch of the Korean Metal Workers’ Union held a mobile vote for and once morest 44,538 union members.
As a result of voting for and once morest the results of the vote for union members, 39,608 people voted in favor, with a approval rate of 91.76%.
However, even if the right to strike arises, it is more likely to continue working-level negotiations with the management rather than immediately going on strike.
This year, Hyundai Motor’s labor union demanded ▲a basic wage increase of 184,900 won (excluding salary increase) ▲30% of previous year’s net profit (including stocks) bonus payment ▲900% bonus ▲various allowances and actualization.
Most notable is the increase in the retirement age from 60 to 64.
It is known that the management and the labor union have previously confirmed that the wage bill may go through additional discussions, but the extension of the retirement age is not allowed in consideration of social public opinion.
Due to this strike, Hyundai Motor’s union can legally go on strike if the Central Labor Commission decides to suspend negotiations on the 28th.
In fact, if the Hyundai Motors union goes on strike, it will be the first time in five years.
