It has been a little over two years and three summers since the Namur cable car, inaugurated in May 2021, was launched. A project which was far from having a guarantee of success since the contract established between the manager and the City of Namur only provided for the commissioning of six cabins and the possibility of adding another train of six cabins in the event of success. . But it didn’t take a year before this second train – the maximum capacity – was incorporated given the success of the tool. Today, the operator is satisfied. Mainly from the tourist offer. “The attendance figures go beyond the expectations set since we had counted on the presence of 120,000 users per year and that we had 150,000 during the first year, 180,000 during the second and that we are leaving on this basis for the year 2023. We are talking regarding a 5% increase with a very good month of June, a less good month of July but an August identical to that of last year”, explains Jean -Charles Dekeyser, infrastructure manager.
