Researchers have found a child’s iliac bone in the Grotte du Renne in France. The amazing thing is that it fits neither the skeleton of an anatomically modern human nor that of a Neanderthal.

According to the anthropologists, the bone points to the former existence of a previously unknown human tribe. As “Focus Online” reports, the research team compared the find during the analysis, among other things, with 32 modern human bones.

Fifteen different levels with remains from different cultures can be found in the Grotte du Renne. Both Neanderthals and Homo Sapiens are said to have lived there. There is even evidence that the two human species shared the cave for a time.

This is said to have been the case 40,000 to 45,000 years ago. According to “Scientific Reports”, the found stone tools from this period are probably the result of diffusion. The tools were developed by anatomically modern humans and later copied by Neanderthals.
