Lasers coupled to drones increase accuracy in geotechnology in terrain scanning

Equipment is already used by surveying engineers and surveyors in geotechnology segments such as mining, infrastructure and large transport works

The use of drones in various activities is increasingly common. According to data from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), by April of this year, more than 93,000 pieces of equipment had already been registered throughout the country, with emphasis on the state of São Paulo, which already had more than 30 thousand devices registered for use.

According to Rogério Neves, CEO of CPE Tecnologia, a company that operates in the geotechnology solutions market, this segment should constantly grow, mainly due to the need for precision in mapping land in segments such as agriculture, mining, infrastructure and others. .

“Drones are equipment that increase productivity, reduce manpower and provide more security, as they prevent professionals from putting themselves in risky situations at times. In addition, they are used not only to monitor areas and transmit images, but also as tools for mapping, reading, measuring and analyzing terrain for various purposes”, says the executive, who also comments that “in agribusiness, for example, they can be used to check the presence of diseases and pests, spray the crop and map the size of the crop”.

Companies in the agriculture, mining, urban infrastructure, civil construction, engineering and other sectors are already benefiting from technology. According to Neves, due to the high demand, it is necessary to invest in improvements, “so, in 2019, we brought laser scanners to Brazil, which are capable of measuring thousands of points at once, with a range of up to 6km”, he says.

The executive claims that they are equipment capable of increasing the accuracy and detail of the reading, benefiting professionals such as topographers, geographers, surveying engineers and cartographers. “When we coupled lasers, we were able to further increase this precision, promote greater agility and increase the amount of data collected in a short time”, he explains.

“This resource can be used in topographical, planialtimetric and cadastral surveys, generation of digital models of land and elevations, 3D models and inspection of structures, making the work faster and more accurate, which is beneficial for the entire production chain”, he concludes. .

About CPE Tecnologia

CPE Tecnologia operates in the geotechnology solutions market since 1974 and is a pioneer in the implementation of some technologies in the Brazilian market. With nine own units (MG, SP, SC, PR, RJ, PE, RN, GO and BA) and more than 30 licensed units spread across the country, the company provides customers with training on the correct use of equipment and courses taught by specialists. In addition to training, the corporation offers equipment purchasers or lessees specialized technical assistance, a premium service whose objective is to ensure the maintenance and repair of equipment with original parts and calibrations from the manufacturers, in addition to the warranty. Due to Brazil’s rugged terrain and the large number of slopes, dams, hydroelectric plants, forests and other risk areas, CPE Tecnologia is prepared to analyze trends and work to prevent environmental catastrophes, acting in emergency situations. The company also works in partnership with environmental surveillance teams, providing equipment for monitoring the Amazon Forest, in joint work with the Army, Incra, national institutes and the Fire Department.
