A number of experts emphasized the need to wear N95 masks if a person is at risk of serious illness or death from the emerging corona virus, according to CNN.

Dr. Jonathan Rainer, a cardiologist, said that 80-year-old US President Joe Biden should apply this advice.

He continued, “The octogenarians are the group most at risk of complications from ‘Covid-19’.”

And the US Centers for Disease Control and Control urges people to “wear masks that provide you with the best protection.”

She points out that some people are more likely to develop serious diseases due to “Covid-19”. However, the agency does not make a broad recommendation for all people to wear masks.

That might change if hospitalizations reach critical levels.

Others at risk are people with diabetes, cancer, chronic liver disease, kidney or lung disease, HIV, or other conditions that affect immunity.

The list also includes people with a family history of heart disease, stroke, dementia or mental health problems.

Overall, there were regarding 4 new hospitalizations per 100,000 people nationwide in the week ending Aug. 12, which is considered low, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Control.

A new variant, BA.2.86, has caught scientists’ attention because it is highly mutating, but it has only been detected in a small number of people worldwide.

“The virus continues to find new ways to challenge humans and find new hosts nonstop,” said Dr. Eric Topol, a cardiologist at The Scripps Institute for Translated Research.
