She never thought she would say that one day and yet her breast surgery did indeed save her life. In the middle of the operation, the surgeons detected the presence of a tumor, the size of a fist. 30-year-old Savannah Wiley suffered from back and shoulder pain due to her H-cup breasts. As she explained, she also suffered from irritation in her right breast due to a lump that doctors considered , according to her, as a harmless cyst. The bump rubbed on her underwired bras, causing sores.
Faced with this daily burden, Savannah therefore chose to undergo breast reduction in February 2022 to lighten the weight on her chest and improve her quality of life. But the young woman, whose words were relayed by the Mirrorfell 10 floors when she realized that the harmless cyst she had been told was actually a large cancerous mass, removed during the operation. “I never thought this might happen to me, especially at the age of 29”she said.

“Stage four means death”
MRI and several other tests eventually confirmed stage four breast cancer. “I felt like I had lost my breath. Stage four means death, or at least that was what I imagined, I thought I was going to die very quickly”she confided while explaining that she had taken oral chemotherapy drugs.
Although her remaining life expectancy is only five to ten years, Savannah, now in remission, has vowed to make the most of the time she has left. “Usually a lot of people think remission means recovery, but it doesn’t really mean that, and it certainly doesn’t when you’re in stage four.”, she lamented, explaining that she had abandoned all dreams of motherhood.

“Once a month I get injections of hormone blockers. They put me in menopause, so I’m in menopause at 30. I can never have children”, she said.
