Mr. Faid discusses with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh the prospects for strengthening bilateral economic relations

JOHANNESBURG – The Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid, on Wednesday in Johannesburg (South Africa), discussed with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Abul Kalam Abdul Momen, means of developing bilateral economic and trade relations and the prospects for Algeria’s membership of the New Development Bank (NBD) of the Brics, indicates a press release from the ministry.

This meeting was held on the sidelines of the work of the 15th Brics Summit (August 22-24 in Johannesburg), in which Mr. Faid is taking part as a representative of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, according to the same source.

This meeting was “an opportunity to review the state of bilateral economic and trade relations and the prospects for their strengthening and development, particularly in the finance, hydrocarbons, pharmaceuticals and building materials sectors”, states the press release.

During this meeting, the two parties stressed “their willingness to make greater efforts to promote cooperation and establish mutually beneficial partnerships”.

The two ministers also discussed “the prospects for Algeria’s membership of the New Development Bank, which was supported by Bangladesh, a member of the bank”, according to the same source.

Regarding cooperation in finance, the talks focused on “opportunities for signing double taxation agreements, as well as the promotion and mutual protection of investments”, the statement concludes.
