If you thought that it is only possible to listen to music or other audio with headphones placed on your ear, this product segment is enough to surprise you. The Haylou PurFree BC01 is a bone conduction model that changes the way you enjoy sound.
Is it possible to hear directly through the bone with satisfactory quality? What features does this product bring to the user? TudoCelular has tested a unit in the last few weeks and breaks it down for you in this full review.
design and build
A visible highlight from the beginning of your experience is the design. It has the shape of an earphone, placed around your head, with an opening that is still on the back – and prevents you from using it lying down, for example.
At the ends, you’ll find an arch on each side to contour to your ear and sit on the bone next to your tragus – that bump in your outer ear that protects the entrance to your ear canal.
The construction of the product is made of titanium alloy with a very rigid silicone finish, which gives good durability and resistance. The accessory still carries the IP67 certification, to guarantee protection once morest dust and water.
In practice, we had a good impression of him. The fit on the head is very comfortable, as are the arches around the ears, thanks to its compact and lightweight body – it weighs 28 grams. It is also impressive how this product is more hygienic than conventional models, since it does not occupy the inner part of the ear and has a material that is very resistant to sweat.
In the sound output on the left, there is a multifunction button that serves to answer or hang up a call, play or pause a song, advance or return to the next track. On the other side are the magnetic pins and the volume down and up buttons – the latter also used to turn on the device and enter pairing mode.
In addition to the handset, the package includes a USB-A cable with a magnetic connector, ear protectors – which will have a function that we will break down better soon – and the user manuals.
connectivity
Haylou PurFree BC01 supports Bluetooth 5.2 and is equipped with Qualcomm QCC3044 chip. It can only be connected wirelessly with another device – such as cell phones, tablets and notebooks –, that is, it does not have a cable output.
The main highlight of its connectivity is the possibility of being connected to two devices simultaneously. For this, it is necessary to activate the function manually. While in pairing mode, the user must press the multi-function button and the on/off button for three seconds.
Overall, we had good stability, even while connected to two devices. Switching is done smoothly and quickly, pausing the playback of one to start the audio of the other.
The only issue we had here was trying to connect it to the television – a Samsung RU7450. Maybe due to some Bluetooth incompatibility, the phone is found in the TV’s search list, but it gives an error when trying to pair.
We also miss an application for management. It would not only facilitate the connection between different headphones, but also allow additional features such as sound equalization.
Sound and microphone quality
And does bone conduction allow you to hear well? I was impressed with the ability to hear well in a headphone of this type. It allows you to hear a very clear and clean sound, with a decent power – although not too loud.
Another important point is that, despite being an open earphone, the music practically does not “leak” into the environment. Even with the volume at maximum, anyone nearby hears only the noise of cymbals, but in an unrecognizable way in relation to what is being played.
The audio is balanced between its frequencies when well adjusted in your head. If you press it once morest your skin, you’ll hear more highs and miss out on lows. And speaking of the lower frequencies, they are more felt when using ear protectors. When you muffle the input of the ears, the beats become fuller.
However, it is important to understand what the purpose of this type of product is. One of its use cases is the possibility of using it while being aware of what is happening around you – since your ears will be free to listen to the environment. That is, ear protectors would not be a resource to be used at all times.
Another important point here is the protection of the user’s eardrums. One of the items to pay attention to when using conventional headphones – especially at higher volumes – is the damage they can bring to human hearing.
By emitting sound through vibrations to the temporal bone, and not directly to the eardrum, you end up protecting the membrane of your ear canal and will have less chance of a problem in this regard in the future. Apart from that, even following hours of listening to music, there is a great sonic comfort when the playback ends.
The PurFree BC01 features dual microphones with omnidirectional voice pickup for increased sensitivity. Haylou has also inserted a call noise cancellation that promises to improve call quality.
Here the phone surprised positively once once more. In tests of Telegram and regular telephone calls, we had the same result. The voice is heard clearly on the other side, while ambient noise can be canceled out 100% when not speaking, or almost completely when speaking.
Battery
And how does this bone conduction earphone perform with its 165 mAh battery? The manufacturer promises a total autonomy of at least 8 hours of continuous use, which would be enough to listen to regarding 200 songs.
In practice, our tests indicated a much more optimistic scenario. We managed regarding 12 hours of non-stop music playback. A very satisfactory autonomy for a compact accessory like this.
When we go to charging, the process is done with the cable that comes with the product in the box, through the magnetic connectors located to the right of the PurFree BC01. We use a common 15W adapter for the process.
Here we had a time of 1 hour and a half for the phone to complete the whole process. We understand a satisfactory time to stay plugged in, considering that it compensates for going beyond the promised in its total duration.

The Haylou PurFree BC01 provides a different way to enjoy music or talk to someone over a call. It has a design that brings comfort in its fit to the head, while offering resistance in its construction, thanks to the IP67 certification.
In addition to being more hygienic than accessories inserted directly into the ear, it also protects the eardrums due to its way of sound emission. Not to mention the satisfactory audio and microphone quality.
