Bengaluru | The Pragyaan rover will soon land on the lunar surface from the Chandrayaan 3 probe that has made a soft landing at the Moon’s south pole. The doors of the lander opened at midnight yesterday. Then the moves to launch the rover are in progress. The rover will travel across the surface at a speed of one centimeter per second. The rover will fly past the Ashoka Pillar and ISRO’s emblem.
The rover will conduct experiments on the lunar surface for the next 14 days following release. Data collected from the surface will be transmitted to the lander, the lander will transmit it to the orbiter, and the orbiter will transmit it to Earth. The footage is available to scientists through two 1-megapixel monochromatic cameras mounted on the front of the rover.
Chandrayaan 3 made a historic soft landing at the South Pole of the Moon at 6.04 pm yesterday. The landing was done entirely with the help of computer systems, sensors and artificial intelligence.
Chandrayaan 3 was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota on July 14. The successful soft landing was following a journey of 41 days.
With this, India became the first country to soft-land a probe on the South Pole of the Moon. India is also the fourth country to land a probe on the lunar surface. India’s achievement has been appreciated by various countries of the world.
