Lebanon and Gulf Bank S.A.L issued a statement stating: “One of the suspicious websites has been systematically campaigning once morest Lebanon and Gulf Bank S.A.L. and its board chairman to harm the bank’s reputation and put pressure on it in order to blackmail it as a result of, incitement from one of the fishermen in troubled waters. Who saw the crisis the country is going through as an opportunity to achieve private material gains at the expense of the public interest and depositors.
The statement added, “The campaign included publishing fabricated lies and allegations, attributing them to judicial and official authorities to mislead public opinion and suggest that these lies are reliable information, while the truth is otherwise.”
And he continued, “Accordingly, Lebanon and Gulf Bank S.A. categorically denies these lies, and affirms that it will not remain silent regarding this campaign of defamation and that it is in the process of taking the necessary legal measures to prosecute everyone who published and republished these lies, and everyone who incited, participated, interfered and helped spread them.”
And he concluded: “Finally, Lebanon and Gulf Bank SAL calls on everyone not to be dragged behind this campaign and not to deal with these lies and any information before verifying its authenticity by the concerned authorities, especially the Bank of Lebanon and the Banking Control Commission.”
