Organizing the funeral of Vice President Le Van Thanh according to state-level rites

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and their families have just released sad news regarding the Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh passed away.

Accordingly, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, was born on October 20, 1962; hometown Tan Lien commune, Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city; permanent residence at house number 217, Lach Tray street, Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong city.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh

He is a member of the Party Central Committee for the XII, XIII tenures, member of the Government Party Personnel Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Former Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Council of Hai Phong City; Member of the 12th National Assembly.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh was awarded the Third-class Labor Medal by the Party and State, the National Emulation Soldier and many other noble orders and medals.

After a period of serious illness, although he was enthusiastically cared for and treated by the Party, State, professors, doctors and family, due to serious illness, he passed away at 20:20. August 22, 2023 (July 7 in the year of the Rabbit) at his home, at the age of 61.

The Secretariat of the Party Central Committee has decided to establish a State Funeral Committee consisting of 23 members, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai.

The coffin of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh is buried at the Convention Center of Hai Phong City, No. 18 Hoang Dieu, Hong Bang District, Hai Phong City.

The visitation ceremony is held from 9 a.m. on Thursday, August 24 (July 9 in the year of the Rabbit) to 7 a.m. on Saturday, August 26 (July 11 in the year of the Rabbit). The memorial service will be held at 7 a.m. Saturday, August 26. Then there is the funeral ceremony and the burial ceremony before 11 am on Saturday, August 26 at the hometown cemetery of Tan Lien commune, Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city.

Working history of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh:

February 1988 to May 1998: He was an accountant, then Deputy Head of Financial Accounting Department, Hai Phong Cement Factory.

June 1998 to March 2003: He was the Secretary of the Party cell, the Head of the Financial Accounting Department, the Project Management Board for the construction of the new Hai Phong Cement Factory.

April 2003 to July 2004: He was the Vice President of the Project Management Board, in charge of the economic sector, and the Chief of Construction of the new Hai Phong Cement Factory.

From 7/2004 to 11/2005: He was Deputy Director of Hai Phong Cement Company cum Deputy Project Management Board, Commander in charge of installation and commissioning of the new Hai Phong Cement Plant.

December 2005 to May 2006: He was a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, acting Director of Hai Phong Cement Company.

June 2006 to May 2009: He was Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of Hai Phong Cement Company, cum Head of Project Management Board of Hai Phong Cement Urban Area; Member of the 12th National Assembly (from May 2007 to May 2011).

June 2009 to July 2010: He was a member of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of Hai Phong Cement Company, cum Head of the Project Management Board of Hai Phong Cement Urban Area.

From July 2010 to November 2010: He was a member of the City Party Committee, member of the Party Personnel Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People’s Committee.

December 2010 to May 2014: He was a member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, member of the Party Personnel Committee, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People’s Committee; Delegate of Hai Phong City People’s Council, term 14.

May 2014 to December 2014: He was Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee; Delegate of Hai Phong City People’s Council, term 14.

December 2014 to October 2015: He was Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Personnel Committee, Chairman of the Hai Phong City People’s Committee.

October 2015 to June 2016: He was Secretary of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Personnel Committee, Chairman of the Hai Phong City People’s Committee; Member of the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of Military Zone III, Secretary of the Military Party Committee of Hai Phong City. In January 2016, at the 12th National Party Congress, he was elected a member of the Party Central Committee.

From July 2016 to April 2021: He was a member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Union, Chairman of the People’s Council of Hai Phong city; Member of the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of Military Zone III, Secretary of the Military Party Committee of Hai Phong City.

At the 13th National Party Congress, he continued to be elected a member of the Party Central Committee. At the 11th session of the XIV National Assembly, Mr. Comrade was appointed to hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister.

April 2021 to August 2023: He is a member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Government Party Personnel Committee, Deputy Prime Minister for the 2016-2021, 2021-2026 term.
