The Canadian has filled his bank of hopes in recent years. The names of Lane Hutson, David Reinbacher, Owen Beck and company are well known to all. But what regarding those who go under the radar?
Pool Pro magazine has listed three hopefuls in the organization of the CH who deserve closer monitoring.
luke tuch
2nd round pick of the Canadiens in 2020, Tuch will play a fourth season this year in the American university ranks with Boston University.
“He is a power forward who has an offensive touch and is able to make room for his more talented teammates. If he manages to imitate his brother Alex, who plays with the Sabres, he might become an important asset for the CH, ”notes TVA Sports analyst Alexandre Picard.
Last season, Tuch had 20 points in 40 NCAA games.
William Trudeau
The defender caught the eye last season with the Laval Rocket, following a very interesting stint in the QMJHL.
Drafted by the Canadiens in the 4th round in 2021, Trudeau scored 27 points in 60 games last year in the American League.
“Within another organization, he would probably be closer to the NHL, but since the Canadiens have their hands full of promising young defenders, he continues his development in the shadows,” explains Jonathan Bernier of the Journal de Montreal.
Adam Engstrom
The Swede led all defensemen under 20 last season in the Swedish Elite League with 16 points in 43 games.
3rd round choice in 2022, the rear who plays in Rögle has a good size and handles the puck well.
“He’s a smart and fast defender. There will still be another season at Rögle in Sweden, but he might come next year, ”wrote Jean-François Chaumont of the Journal de Montréal.
