Charal Brand Burgers Recalled in France: Check if You’ve Purchased the Potentially Contaminated Meat

2023-08-22 22:08:17

If you’ve recently purchased Charal brand burgers, double-check that they aren’t part of the batch being recalled by the company due to suspected harmful bacteria. The possibly contaminated meat would have been sold everywhere in France, informs Rappel Conso.

This Tuesday, August 22, 2023, Rappel Conso, the French government’s dangerous product alert site, warns of the risk of consuming fresh ground beef, pure beef, 5% fat, from the Charal brand; those sold in packs of 2 or individually. In question: the possible presence of the bacterium E. Coli (Escherichia coli shiga toxinogenic), in the meats marketed between August 2 and 14, throughout France, in the signs Auchan, Carrefour, Casino, Franprix, Leader Price, Intermarché, Leclerc, Match, Monoprix, Simply Market, or even Systeme U.
Consumers are called upon to no longer eat them and to destroy these products, even if cooking them to heart prevents the consequences of this type of contamination (information which can reassure those who have cooked them in recent days).

In the week following the consumption of contaminated products, Escherichia coli can cause sometimes bloody diarrhoea, abdominal pain and vomiting, with or without fever. These symptoms may be followed (5 to 8% of cases) by severe renal complications, mainly in children.

Drink reminder

If you have eaten these Charal steaks and have these types of symptoms, you should consult your doctor without delay. In the absence of symptoms within 10 days following consumption of the products concerned, there is no need to worry and consult a doctor.

The recall procedure was initiated by the Charal company itself, without there having been a prefectural decree.
