Ditaji Kambundji quietly qualified for the semi-finals of the 100m hurdles at the World Championships in Budapest. The 21-year-old Bernese finished 3rd in her series, in 12″71.
Competing in the fourth and penultimate series, Ditaji Kambundji did not have to force his talent to clinch one of the four directly qualifying places. She was overtaken by the 2021 Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn (12″50) and the Dutch Nadine Visser (12″68) in this race.

It was the 2021 Olympic vice-champion Kendra Harrison who set the best time in the playoffs, with an impressive 12″24 (best world performance of the year). The American beat Bahamian Devynne Charlton (12″44) and world record holder Tobi Amusan (12″48).
Ditaji Kambundji ranks 13th overall. The semi-finals are scheduled for Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. Kambundji will probably have to approach or even beat his recent Swiss record (12.47) to be invited to the final on Thursday at 9.22 p.m. “The nervousness caused by the first race has now passed. I’m looking forward to running in the semi-finals,” said the Bernese.
