The 25-year-old defender has joined West Ham United in the Premier League with immediate effect.

Konstantinos Mavropanos is leaving VfB following three years and is returning to the Premier League: initially on loan from Arsenal in 2020 and moving to Neckar in the summer of 2022, the defender is now playing for West Ham United.

The 25-year-old made his debut for VfB in October 2020. Since then, Konstantinos Mavropanos has played 80 Bundesliga games (six goals), seven cup games (one goal) and two relegation games (one goal) in the jersey with the red chest ring. With his header power, intense style of play and often uncompromising duel leadership, he not only matured into a permanent fixture at VfB, but also in the Greek national team. He has played 19 international matches for his home country since 2021. In addition, he was the Bundesliga professional with the best duel rate of 69.1 percent of duels won last season.

VfB would like to thank Konstantinos Mavropanos for his commitment in the jersey with the red chest ring and wish him all the best for his new challenge!

VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth: “Dinos isn’t one to duck. He goes ahead and takes others with him, especially when things get tight and tricky. With his uncompromising and athletic style of play, he has attracted attention both at home and abroad. Both Dinos and we at VfB can be proud of his development into a Greek national player and an internationally sought-following top player. Dinos was keen to jump at the chance to return to the Premier League. He came to us with this wish. And of course there are also clear financial reasons in connection with this transfer, which prompt us as a club to agree to this transfer. We would like to thank Dinos for his tireless commitment to VfB and wish him all the best for his private and sporting future.”

Konstantinos Mavropanos: “After three years at VfB Stuttgart, the moment has now come for me to take the next step. It was a wonderful time that I will always remember very fondly. I would like to thank my teammates, all coaches, all support staff and the VfB employees for the many beautiful moments. The whole VfB family gave me a warm welcome from day one and I felt very comfortable. Together with the great VfB fans, I was able to experience many emotional, happy and exciting moments in the VfB jersey. The fans have always given us tremendous support. With this support everything is possible in every game! All the best for the future.”
