Cracking Down on Drug Trafficking and Violence: Brussels-North Police Zone’s Efforts for Public Safety

Police officers in the Brussels-North zone seized 379 medicine pills between August 11 and 20, including 223 from Lyrica and 59 from Ritrovil, the zone announced on Tuesday. “You should know that these two drugs, available only on prescription and sold in pharmacies, are known for their addictive and disinhibiting effects,” she said. “Combined with alcohol, they can negatively influence the behavior of some people.”

The police also seized a sum of 1,745 euros, a quantity of 68.19 grams of cannabis and 57 ecstasy pills. They arrested 23 people, including 14 people for drug trafficking and three for robbery in flagrante delicto.

“The Brussels public prosecutor’s office ordered the release of 10 suspects. In two cases, he seized an investigating judge, who issued two arrest warrants. In two other cases, a direct summons to the court was served, ”said the Brussels-North police zone.
