The NBA Investigation: Unfulfilled Promises and Accusations – The Truth Behind James Harden’s Claims and Daryl Morey’s Role

While the NBA recently opened an investigation following the accusations of James Harden who had called Daryl Morey a “liar”, the Bearded man made his position clear to the leaders of the League. What would the Sixers manager have cheated on his player regarding? We take stock with the latest information.

When James Harden took out the flamethrower to publicly declare that his boss Daryl Morey is a big myth, we immediately wondered what he was referring to.

At first, it was thought that the president of basketball operations in Philadelphia had promised a big contract extension to his player this summer, a year following the financial sacrifices made by the Bearded man to allow the Sixers to recruit PJ Tucker and Danuel House Jr. in the 2022 offseason. But obviously, according to the All-Star guard, rather, we are talking regarding an unfulfilled promise of transfer.

Indeed, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Harden told NBA investigators that Morey broke his contract to trade Ramesse soon following Ramesse activated the $35.6 million player option. By activating his option, Harden closed the doors of the Free Agency and gave Morey the opportunity to seek a counterpart for his player instead of potentially losing him once morest peanuts. But since then, the Sixers have indicated their desire to keep the Barbu for the coming season.

If the NBA has decided to open an investigation into the Harden – Morey file, it is in particular to find out on whether the Sixers violated CBA rules by promising their player a big contract extension in the future in exchange for an immediate financial sacrifice. Such shenanigans are effectively prohibited by League regulations. As a reminder, in the early 2000s, the NBA version David Stern had heavily sanctioned the Timberwolves in the case of Joe Smith, who had signed several small short-term contracts with Minnesota to allow the Wolves to strengthen their workforce, in exchange for an XXL contract in the future.

Ironically, Harden’s statements therefore clear the Sixers of Moreyeven if the Bearded man obviously remains very frustrated with the turn of events.

Nobody knows exactly what Daryl said to James this summer, nor is it clear if the Sixers boss really did his best in the various negotiations to transfer Harden (to the Clippers or elsewhere). What we do know, however, is that Morey will not trade his player for something he deems insufficient. He can’t afford it knowing that MVP Joel Embiid is only thinking regarding winning the NBA title. The problem in this case today is that no one is scrambling to secure the services of the 33-year-old guard, who will enter a final year of contract at more than 35 million dollars.

You have understood, it is not tomorrow that this file will be settled…
