Several dozen passengers of a “slow” Ouigo which was to leave Nantes at 6:30 p.m. this Monday, bound for Paris-Austerlitz, had to spend the night on the train because of a fire in Maine-et-Loire. , in Trélazé, in the early evening. While other trains were able to leave, theirs remained at the platform.

“We waited 4 hours on the quay”, testifies, at 11 p.m., a passenger who came from Saumur with her parents aged over 80 for a day in Nantes. “At the start, there were several hundred of us. Some, including families with children, ended up leaving”. By dint of insisting, she was able to get a taxi to go home. But this is not the case for other passengers.

“The TGV before us was able to leave, but we stayed in Nantes”

According to another traveler, between 60 and 80 people were preparing to sleep in the trains, including single, pregnant women and at least one disabled person. Tristan Mitâtre says: “We were warned that there was a fire near Angers. After an hour and a half, we were assured that we would be able to leave. This is what the train did just before us, a TGV. But, an hour later, we were told that, finally, our train would not leave. However, the staff on board did everything they might so that we might leave.

He assures that no other solution has been offered to stranded passengers: neither hotel nor taxi. At 11 p.m., they finally had a meal tray.
