Argentina’s Disappointment: Missing the 2024 Paris Olympics and the Future of the National Team

The sun no longer shines. After isolating themselves from the orange planet by missing the 2023 World Cup, Argentina is making a new cross on a major major event: the 2024 Paris Olympics.

There’s a big mess there.

Admittedly, the Bahamas approached this Olympic pre-qualification tournament with an unprecedented team, organized around a trio Buddy HieldEric GordonDeandre Ayton not gross, but still. That the 4th nation in FIBA ranking attacking one of the most important international windows in its recent history, with Gabriel Deck, Facundo Campazzo and Carlos Delfino leading the way, says a lot regarding the state – and the future – of this selection. A pocket leader, the bench bottom of the Thunder and a 40-year-old branch to take the team to Paris 2024. Hit in the adductor, Luca Vildoza missed a lot. In short, the ambitions were fair, it simply lacked the casting to follow through.

And it was only a pre-Olympic qualifying tournament. As the host country of this first event, Argentina did not even manage to reach the final OQT. Whoever will decide whether or not the Bahamas will hold the first Olympic Games in their history. The room was however on the side of the Albiceleste. A real cauldron, commissioned by the challenge of accompanying each of the Argentine lay-ups, as simple and open as they are, with a popular bronca. It wasn’t enough. The disappointment is total.

Next appointment for Argentina… in a long time. France in any case, will no longer cross swords under great challenge with the Albiceleste, before the 2027 World Cup which will take place in Qatar.
