Ukraine’s Alternative Grain Corridor: The Role of Greece and Air Defense Systems

Ukraine asked Greece for air defense systems (AD) to protect the “alternative grain corridor”. This was announced by Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky at a briefing following a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

“Ukraine has created an alternative grain corridor in the Black Sea. It can work, but in order for its operation to be stable, we require an increase in the air shield. This can be a historical contribution of Greece to European security, if you help us, and protection, in particular, of the Black Sea area, regarding air defense,” Zelensky said. He published a video from the briefing in the telegram channel.

Earlier URA.RU wrote that Ukraine and NATO countries decided transport grain through the Sulina Canal. The alternative route passes through Romania and Moldova. According to the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov, this route makes it possible to bypass the entry restrictions imposed by Russia.
