The host and comedian Lizy Tagliani leads the «Got Talent Argentina» cycle, a new edition of the British talent show franchise that became one of the most successful and reversed reality shows on TV globally, and that This Monday returns to the Telefe screen from 9:45 p.m. with Abel Pintos, Florencia Peña, La Joaqui and the Uruguayan choreographer Emir Abdul in the jury.
“We have a deployment that has nothing to envy other countries, It truly is spectacular, and besides, we have the passion. It will be because I am Argentine, but I think we have that thing that we get angry, we enjoy, we get excited … Everything is fiery and with a beating heart, “Tagliani commented in dialogue with Télam regarding the imprint of this kind of fourth season and reboot of the cycle starring a great display of music, singing, dancing, acrobatics, magic, unexpected skills and other disciplines of entertainment.
Created in 2006 by English record producer Simon Cowell, the format multiplied shortly following with more than 70 adaptations in other latitudes and reached the air signal Argentina in 2008 as “Argentine talent”. With Mariano Peluffo in the role of conductor and Catherine Fulop, Maximiliano Guerra and Kike Teruel as judges, she took leave at the beginning of 2011 following three seasons.
Thirteen years later and with a new team on set, Telefe resumed the show that aims to find the most prominent local artist on stage, who is among the more than 450 individual or group contestants -and with no age limit- that the production gathered following the series of auditions that it carried out since November of last year throughout the territory.
In “Got Talent Argentina”, a wide range of participants will be able to show their skills and acts, although only some will go on to the following rounds that will define the winner of the contest if they manage to evade the red buttons that each of the juries has available to reject their submissions and that, if pressed unanimously, would make them drop out of the competition.
In anticipation of its premiere, Lizy Tagliani y Abel Pintos, who had already set foot in this type of production when he was a co-coach in the third season of “La Voz Argentina”, they spoke with this agency regarding the proposal that he will take the post in the strip of another popular contest format, “MasterChef Argentina”, which on August 7 ended its third installment.
Q: Among those who have already been able to see, was there an act that particularly caught your attention?
Abel Pintos: There are things that I had never seen, I was very influenced by the drag artists that performed. I had heard a little regarding the subject, but had never witnessed, much less deeply known, the artistic concept. It is a very particular discipline, because it is mixed with emotional, psychological, and spiritual transit, and it had a great impact on me. I thanked those participants very much, openly let them know that I was learning, and they were very patient with me.
Q: And you, Lizy, how did you approach your role as host?
Lizy Tagliani: I get along very well with this because I fully trust the jury that performs its function, I am not invasive with respect to its decisions, I try to see it with its eyes, and other times I try to think regarding how it will be seen on television, because here the energy it is one and then what arrives at the house is something else. I do like that they have found a way to give feedback that is very constructive, because my fear is that it might be frustrating. You come here, you show up because you are safe, you trust and you love what you do, and not feeling your best right now and in this place can be very frustrating.
Q: In that sense, what contact do you generate with the contestants?
LT: The whole first stage paved the way for me a bit, because in the first audition programs I am almost like a friend who gives them strength so that they have the courage to go out and eat the stage. And then, the one that receives them with joy or with a certain nostalgia, if they might not give what they wanted. So in the second stage, that of standing in front of the stage and in which nothing can be hidden anymore, when everything is exposed, I am calmer there. I was able to have all the preview and meet them, and I like that.
Q: And you, Abel, how do you get along with being on the jury?
AP: It is a nice experience, very nutritious, I learn a lot from my colleagues and the participants, and even from myself, because I found myself involved in situations in which I had to solve questions that when they finished I said to myself “ah, I’ve never seen this before.” in this way”, that an artist led me to be able to understand them in a certain way. It was very interesting to have accepted this challenge.
Q: What criteria have you used so far when evaluating?
AP: The first talk we had between the five of us was fundamental, because we established almost a law, that it had to be us and only us. The production gave us free rein to do, say and think what we want, and in this case we have to be in front of the cameras but not work for the cameras. We were going to feel what happens to us with each participant and support that. We immediately connected in that place, and then with each one the criteria were different, because many artists came to revalidate their talent following traveling a long way, but without the opportunity of a popular window like this, so when I realized that I got more technical, I was more refined, because they were not beginners and they might do better. On the other hand, we accompany the artists who came to discover themselves more, to give them tools and votes of confidence.
Q: “Got Talent” is added to the television offer shortly following a certain revival that competition and contest reality shows had. Why do you think there is a new commitment to these formats?
LT: I am a television girl, I am a consumer of reality shows, the strips, everything. Television is partly opening your eyes, pressing the control and letting it be with you. And I think that the seasoning of reality shows is that they have that thing that can touch all of us, and that is what makes you happy, knowing that the one who is there might have been you, or someone else who is not in the industry. It’s kind of what happened to me, I didn’t know anyone at the beginning, I started doing my hair and then I had an opportunity, and another, and another, and I ended up doing what I do. It seems to me that this is the beautiful thing, that people are happy as if those lucky breaks happened to them.
