The lifeless body of a 16-year-old boy was discovered on Sunday morning on Bredene beach. The victim, from Brussels, probably found himself in difficulty because of the current.
Saturday evening, a pedestrian was alerted by calls for help from a swimmer. He rushed into the water to help him, but the swimmer was nowhere to be found. A search operation was launched, in vain, using rescue boats and an NH90 helicopter.
On Sunday morning, the teenager’s lifeless body was found regarding two kilometers away. The circumstances of the death are currently under investigation.
