Gyeonggi Gimpo Police Station is investigating a 28-year-old man, a delivery driver, on charges of intercepting and stealing food delivered from a restaurant.
The man was arrested on the 16th on charges of stealing food following going to a restaurant he was not assigned to and tricking him into delivering it while working as a delivery driver.
As a result of the police investigation, it was found that the man stole 1 million won worth of food, such as pork feet, ice cream, and bread, from the Pungmu-dong and Sawu-dong areas of Gimpo on 21 occasions for five days from the 10th.
The restaurants that suffered damage thought it was a mistake by the delivery driver and delivered the food once more, and customers wrote reviews pointing out delivery problems, causing damage to customer satisfaction in the delivery app.
The man stated to the police that ″I stole because I wanted to eat,″ and the stolen food was confirmed to have been eaten alone or by a family member.
The police plan to send the man on charges of theft sooner or later, saying, “A restaurant 112 report with similar content was received and during the investigation, it was confirmed that the same person was responsible and arrested.”
